The Moonlight Dress is a loose-fitting nightgown inspired dress, designed for both comfort and charm. The soft, flowing silhouette is enhanced by a delicate front button placket, the flattering v-waist creates a graceful, feminine shape, while the gathered skirt cascades beautifully with every step. Functional pockets bring a casual ease to the design, making it the perfect blend of practicality and romance.

  • The Moonlight Dress comes in a size range from 0 - 32
    (Bust 28.5"-52.5", Waist 21.5"-45.5", Hip 31.5"-55.5")

  • This dress works best with very light to medium weight woven fabrics like linen, cotton voile, lightweight cotton, vintage sheets, repurposed tablecloths. For the lining I recommend using a very light weight fabric.

    The lighter weight the fabric, the nicer the dress falls.

Body Measurements

These are body measurements, not including ease. This pattern is drafted for a height of 166cm (65") with a B-cup bust. This pattern is designed to be loose and oversized. Refer to your bust measurement to find the appropriate size. If you prefer your garment less oversized you may be able to size down.

Each pattern will have its own finished garment measurement that will allow for the ease and fit of the finished garment. Refer to the finished garment measurement chart bellow for this.

The measurements below are the finished garment measurements. The Moonlight Dress has a slightly relaxed fit around the bust and a gathered skirt with a loose waist. If you prefer your dress to be more fitted you can size down, just ensure you can easily slide on over your shoulders.

Finished Garment Measurements

The Moonlight Dress works best with very light to medium weight woven fabrics like Linen, Cotton voile, Lightweight cotton, Vintage sheets, Repurposed tablecloths. For the lining I recommend using a very light-weight fabric. The dress is designed to fall softly and naturally in lighter fabrics.

This chart shows the exact fabric requirements needed if the fabric is cut while flat and not folded.

The measurements are the minimum amounts needed and do not account for fabric shrinkage, which occurs at different rates for all fabrics. Please take this into account when choosing fabric.

Important Note: the fabric amount shown is for one layer of the dress as these fabrics will be different. You will need to purchase this amount for the Main Fabric and also purchase the same amount for your Lining Fabric.

For example, if I were making a size 10 in View A, you would purchase 2.25 of your 60”main fabric,
as well as 2.25 of your 60” lining fabric.

  • We offer an inclusive size range from a size 0 - 32. I believe that everyone deserves a wardrobe that fits their unique body perfectly and comfortable, so we also have tutorials to assist you to alter any pattern to achieve your own perfect fit.

  • All Patterns come in Projector, A0 and PDF printing options so you can work with what suits you best.

    For A0, you can have this printed at most local copy shops or many online fabric stores offer printing and postage at a reasonable cost.

    For PDF printing at home, depending on the country you are in, it will be either US letter or A4. We have a video tutorial here, of how to assemble your print at home file.

  • Projector sewing allows you to skip the printing process and the need to physically store your patterns. You do need a projector to use this. If using a projector I recommend using https://www.patternprojector.com/en

  • Before a pattern is ready for sale, it is tested on a range of sewists of all sizes with varying skill levels. With the help of these amazing tester teams we are able to offer a more cohesive pattern.

    Testers receive the early access to the pattern and a finalized copy of the pattern.

  • To begin sewing you really don’t need all the fancy tools.

    • A sewing machine ~ is essential (I used an old husqvarna machine for 12 years from the tip shop that sewed like a dream and it cost me $20).

    • Scissors for cutting out your fabric

    • Fabrics ~ there are so many amazing fabric stores out there, however if you are starting out. I recommend looking at local thrift stores for fabrics or thrifted bedsheets. I still use these for most of my projects, it is very affordable and wonderful for the environment.

    • Thread ~ This is one thing I don’t believe in buying cheap, a quality thread will make all the difference.

    • Fabric Iron ~ Any iron will be fine, but pre ironing your fabric and pressing as you go can be the difference between a well fitting garment and a warped garment

    • Unpicker ~ This will be your best friend for many years to come

  • We all have beautiful and unique bodies, which means we couldn’t possibly all fit into the one size chart. This is were sewing plays such an incredible role. We can alter patterns to fit us. You should be the one size based off of your bust for most patterns but be sure to check if your hips and waist fall within the corresponding measurements. If they do not, that is fine.
